Ardèche culinary specialities

The Ardèche is a region where gastronomy reflects the richness of its terroir. Among its specialities, the chestnut occupies a central place: used in many dishes, it is also transformed into chestnut cream, jam or flour. Picodon, a PDO goat’s cheese, stands out for its unique flavor, whether fresh, matured or au gratin. Caillette is a must: this small, round pâté, a mixture of pork and chard, is wrapped in crépine and can be eaten hot or cold.

For charcuterie enthusiasts, Ardèche sausage, recognized by a PGI, offers a pronounced flavor thanks to a traditional artisanal preparation. The Ardèche region is home to numerous wineries offering wines that are the perfect accompaniment to these delicacies.

Finally, for dessert, don’t miss the bugne ardéchoise, a crunchy doughnut perfect with coffee or a snack, or the famous macaroons from the village of Joyeuse (Le village de Joyeuse)!
